I’m constantly on music websites, getting updates on new music and the like. Recently I’ve been browsing the web to get new artists on my radar and I’ve found a nice little feature on my YouTube homepage that is called “New In Music This Week” and it has new releases by well known artists as well as unknown artists that are getting a lot of buzz. My curiosity got the best of me and I’ve found some amazing new music to listen to.
One example of this being probably my new R&B obsession, Tinashe. She is an R&B/Soul artist that that released a song last week called “Watch me Work” that was a bonus track for her 2014 album “Aquarius” and it is an absolute TUNE! I’ve been listening to it non-stop almost all week. Its got a nice beat to it that gets you moving and her voice is very reminiscent of Rihanna but with her own flare. This is definitely a song that I can imagine hearing on the radio real soon.WARNING! This song does have explicit language in it, so if you are offended by profanity I would not suggest this song.
The next artist is one called Years & Years. I heard their song “King” last year and thought it was pretty cool but never really looked into them. Now this year I heard it on my spotify and thought it was a great song and looked what it was. When I saw it was Years & Years I thought it was time that I fully look into them and I’m glad I did. They have a great electronica/dance pop vibe to them that is extremely catchy. Add on top of that beautifully clean vocals and you got yourself a great group! I’m glad that I looked into this band this year because they are becoming one of my favorites in their genre.
One final artist that I just recently discovered is, what I would call, the perfect coffee shop soundtrack artist. His name is JP Cooper and he has one of the most beautiful tones to his voice in today’s time, I think so anyways. He’s got a James Bay vibe, so if you like James Bay I highly suggest checking this guy out! Also, if you are one of those “i only listen to hipster coffee shop music #supportindiemusic” type of people this is one artist you need to check out! (no offense intended in that quotation comment)
Thats all I have for you this month. Although these are not artists that are new to the scene (they’ve been around for a while) they are new to me and I’m glad that I found their work and love it! Discovering new music is always refreshing and I feel everyone needs to do it every once in a while.
